This plan by the Museum is without a doubt the most negative of actions affecting the quality of life for all surrounding residential neighbors as well as representing the abandonment of the original goals of the museum founders, and the violation of the agreements initially set forth at the establishment of this very important preservation of the horrible memories that should never be forgotten by mankind. Turning the facility into a "PARTY VENUE" is diametrically opposed to the purpose of this museum and would definitely generate the wrong message to the world.

The museum wishes to use the new space, and the change in operating hours, to generate revenue. They propose to do this through parties, dances, and other revenue generating activities totally inconsistent with the initial stated goals of a museum of tolerance and a memorial to holocaust victimes. As a Jew I am appalled at such proposed desecration. We are completely opposed to any additional activities.

Every one of the museum's conditions of use under the earlier CUP have been violated. We see no reason to believe that this organization would live up to any promises, conditions, agreements, or mitigation in the future.

As a neighbor of the SWC, I feel this will impact us in to many ways to express...TRAFFICand NOISE, as starters. We wish to maintain and preserve the memorial garden as it is to RESPECT the survivors. This is NO neighborhood for a cultural center. Please preserve the MOT as is!!!!

This expansion has got to stop. We are totally inconvenienced by the noise all day and night, the traffic that goes on even on Sunday when we cant park in our own streets by the people attending the Museum. Also, it is extremely dangerous to make a turn from Castello into Pico, which by the way I live right on the corner of Castello and Alcott. Forget making a left turn into Pico from Castello because the tour and school busses park right along Pico and Castello blocking the view to see the traffic. It is impossible. Also, they pray and have classes late at night and cars tear down Alcott into the parking lot on Castello and Alcott till almost midnight every night. One night I almost got killed while crossing the street to get to my house. I couldnt park in front of my house because all the parking was taken by either the Museum or the school. I oppose the new buildings. More traffic, more noise, more polution. Bad enough from the busses. I have lived here for 45 years and I have watched the school and Museum adding and adding and adding. When does it stop? This is a solid neighborhood. The Musuem is a sacred place. My family were all killed in the Holocust. I do not want to see them partying and dancing at a place that take us back to the Trains, The Ovens, the Concentration Camps. It is a mockery. People leave the Museum Tour with tears in their eyes, and then they witness partying going on. Shame!!!!!! They are trying to overun us. Please help us.

The SWC rec'd specific exemptions for building the Museum in return for honoring negotiated "conditions of use". The building was 'overbuilt' for the neighborhood, exceeded ht limits, was excused from providing adequate parking, among other things. The Conditions must remain! Hrs of operation must be restricted consistent with this residential district. The required setback must stay. SWC should not be allowed to convert the Museum to a social club

The residents of the area have lived there far longer than the Center has been in existence -- they have rights that should not be trampled on, even by a Museum that is a wonderful addition to the community. The Museum's existence has negatively impacted the quality of life of the residents and this expansion threatens to compromise it further. There must b e a compassionate and rational response to the needs of the residents.

In order for the Museume to be located at this site, they agreed to conditions about their operations and use. Now, they want to change it all by expanding their operating hours until midnight and starting at 7am, having restaurant and banquet facilities, renting to outside groups, having open air party space, eliminating their setback from the residential community, etc. -- THEY WOULD NOT HAVE RECEIVED PERMISSION TO BUILD WITH THESE CONDITIONS -- why should they be allowed these things now?

Hello: I have lived on Roxbury Drive for the past twelve years. I have been a very good neighbor to the Wiesenthal. They have not. I have people always parking in front of my house to go to the the Museum. They have moved my trash cans when on the street so they can park as well as thrown trash on my lawn. If I would like to leave my house to drive towards Pico It is very difficult to make a right on pico because of the line up of buses in front of the bank and in front of the museum. There has never been adiquite parking nir a drop off area. The street infront of the museum is full of gum marks on the sidwalk and I am walking my dog to the park and It is always a problem. When they have any meetings or holidays I have to close my windows because they are in the garden area making annoucements or singing songs I can hear ever word that is spoken. I do not want the museum open till 12 midnight. This is a quite residental area. There is no need to keep the museum that late. Please have some condsideration for the people who live here. This is are home first then the museum. There has to be a way to communicate this. We all need to work toghther. Thank You for you understanding. Cynthia Sirota

The proposed expansion, in violation of existing agreements with the City and the community, is a callous disregard of the rights of the residents.

They are trying to change the rules, that they agreed to years ago, that allowed them to come into our neighborhood in the first place!

The proposed expansion with its greater density will destroy the ambience of our residential neighborhood. The proposed expansion will negatively impact our quality of life

Buuilding a party hall on a Memorial Garden is akin to dancing on graves.

8:21 pm PDT, Apr 13, Sylvia Crasnick , California
To build a party hall on the Memorial Garden site, which is a remembrance area for the 6,000,000 murdered Jews during the Shoah, would be against the legacy of Simon Wiesenthal who gave his name to the oringinal project.

Please send the link to this petition to everyone you know, to send the message to the Simon Wiesenthal Center and to the decision-makers in City Hall, that this project is a terrible idea, offensive to many in the Jewish community, and it will destroy the important legacy of Simon Wiesenthal.
